Muotkan Ruoktu
We work hand in hand only with partners who correspond to our travel philosophy in full respect of the local ecosystem, fauna, flora, and animals. All are local providers, mostly Saamis, the indigenous people. We ensure that the impact of our activity is minimal on the environment and that it helps to grow the local economy (fair and responsible).
We travel without haste and according to everyone’s expectations and natural conditions. For us, travel is a moment of pleasure, reflection, rejuvenation, self-discovery, and environmental learning. Adventure is a source of fulfillment and exploration of fauna and flora with mindfulness and joy. It is also a moment of sharing among people who have the same travel and life philosophy.
Our philosophy of life is to live our passion and have the joy of making it accessible to others with the same mindset. Our trips are always off the beaten path and away from mass tourism, close to nature and the local population. Each trip is unique and tailor-made to the needs of our guests and according to the opportunities that nature offers us during each stay. Our trips are guided by a passion for wild nature, harmony between human beings and this ecosystem still so preserved, respect for Saami culture and values, respect for the environment, and awareness of the need to preserve it.
Nature, connection with local peoples, disconnection from daily life, immersion in the magical and still preserved universe of Lapland according to our philosophy and values. It is also a real opportunity to live a true parenthesis from all you can find elsewhere in the word, listen to silence and dis/connect with other travelers. It’s a human adventure with a long history and the breathing the true passion for the local nature, culture and fascinating encounters
Our village is a unique place, nestled in the heart of the Muotkan Tunturi nature reserve, between the Tunturi mountains, the river, and endless lakes as far as the eye can see. Here, time stands still, giving way to adventures in untouched nature, with its pristine forests, wild animals, and crystal-clear drinking water.
Our guests often share: “Here, you feel alone in the world, in another world,” and every moment allows us to venture off the beaten path to explore landscapes so different from those seen elsewhere in Lapland or at home! It’s like another planet.
But Muotkan Ruoktu and its activities are also about “human stories,” where one feels more among friends than strangers. Passion for adventure and the history of the place are our priorities.
Here, it’s not a 5-star hotel, but rather a place with 1000 stars. Every moment offers a unique experience, whether being awestruck by majestic Northern Lights or breathtaking landscapes!
